The Unexpected Colors of Cassis, My Latest Inspiration

The South of France. What is there to say that hasn't already been said by poets and painters throughout history? Its pleasures are frankly excessive, but as an artist there is one that has brought me a special kind of joy: Cap Canaille in Cassis on the Mediterranean coast — it is sumptuous and magical. Its towering layers of ochre-colored sandstone and grey marlstone light up with an intense, deep terracotta glow at sunset. It's a view of views; an authentic visual feast that's genuinely inspiring, and for good reason. The color orange has been shown to stimulate oxygen saturation in the brain, enhancing critical thinking and creativity. It's the predominant color in my favorite painting by Hans Hoffmann, The Golden WallRustpumpkinsaffron — each shade earthy, joyful, spiritual. These hues are simply magnetic, and I'm bringing a little piece of this magic to you to brighten these dark winter months to comeCheck out new bags in OCHRE and STONE. I wish you a very happy and healthy end of 2022!
